Exploration expands perspective, and there’s no substitute for hands-on learning through experience. The Center for Student Involvement (CSI) is where curiosity meets community and investigation can become expertise. It’s a space where a love of service can become leading fundraising efforts for breast cancer research or a question about sustainability can lead to becoming a beekeeper.

Located on the top floor of the MU Student Center in the heart of campus, the CSI provides a single, central location for involvement opportunities comprised of Fraternity & Sorority Life, Student Engagement, and Leadership & Service.

Student Engagement

On-campus involvement connects students to experiences and helps build community.

Involvement Ambassadors

The Involvement Ambassadors are a group of experienced students who are available for one-on-one consultations and group presentations that help connect fellow students to resources to get involved on Mizzou’s campus and discuss the importance of campus involvement.

Campus Activities Programming Board

The Campus Activities Programming Board (CAPB) provides social, cultural and educational programs that foster a sense of belonging, inclusion and engagement for the MU community. CAPB focuses on programs such as concerts, speakers, films, daytime, late night, international and so much more! Some well known CAPB events include the Midnight BBQ, Spooktacular and Mizzou-a-palooza.

Organization Resource Group

The Organization Resource Group (ORG) is a group of students dedicated to supporting student organizations in the work they want to do by educating student leaders about university policies and resources, consulting with organizations on how to meet their goals, and providing financial assistance through the Student Activity Fee for student organizations.

Welcome Week

Welcome Week is a series of events for new MU students that occurs each fall the week before the semester begins.There are dozens of social events designed to help students meet each other. There also are academic and informational programs that orientate students to campus.Welcome Week offers something for everyone. Dozens of student organizations, academic units and other departments put on more than 200 events every year.

Fraternity & Sorority Life

The strives to uphold the shared community values of scholarship, leadership, service and brotherhood/sisterhood. The fraternity/sorority community at Mizzou is governed by four councils:

Interfraternity Council

The Interfraternity Council is the governing board of the chapters affiliated with the North American Interfraternity Conference on Mizzou’s campus. The executive board works year-round to provide an enriching collegiate experience through different member development programming and collaborate efforts with chapter leadership.

Multicultural Greek Council

The Multicultural Greek Council is the governing council of multicultural-based organizations, including historically Latino/Latina and Asian sororities and fraternities. Although some of these organizations are cultural or identity-based, they are not cultural or identity-exclusive. MGC chapters are open to individuals of all identities and backgrounds. The council strives to create and maintain an all-inclusive and culturally diverse environment, by fostering cultural awareness and upholding fraternal and sororal values.

National Pan-Hellenic Council

The National Pan-Hellenic Council, Inc. (NPHC) is the governing council of some of the largest historically African American Greek-letter fraternities and sororities, currently representing over 1.5 million members internationally. The organization boasts a diverse membership comprised of students, celebrities, corporate, political and community leaders. The collective social and economic power of the NPHC has been a major source of change for the African-American community in America since its inception.

Panhellenic Association

The Panhellenic Association (PHA) is the governing body of the Panhellenic sororities affiliated with the National Panhellenic Conference. The executive board works year-round to promote unity within the sororities through weekly delegation, frequent events for the whole PHA community, and member development opportunities. Panhellenic works collaboratively with chapter leadership to promote the four Mizzou Panhellenic values and assure the safety and personal and professional development of its members.

Associated Students of the University of Missouri

The Associated Students of the University of Missouri (ASUM) advocates for student interests at the Missouri State Capitol. Each spring, a team of interns work in Jefferson City as student lobbyists to educate state lawmakers on issues affecting UM System students. ASUM is a non-partisan student-led organization that also focuses on voter registration, election education and overall civic engagement.

Mizzou Alternative Breaks

Mizzou Alternative Breaks (MAB) sends students across the United States to serve communities in need. Trips go out over fall, winter, spring and weekend breaks. The program is completely student-led, meaning all participants who go on trips, site leaders who plan trips, and executive board members who oversee the management of trips are Mizzou undergrad or graduate students.

Caring for Columbia

Caring for Columbia, Mizzou’s largest student-run day of service, takes place each April and is a great way to give back to the local community. Students can get involved as volunteers or as student leaders.

Filling in the Space (FITS)

Filling in the Space (FITS) aims to encourage more underrepresented students to get involved and hold important student leadership roles while in their time at Mizzou. Through networking and building community within influential student organizations, FITS is able to expand the voice of underrepresented students and continue the efforts of inclusion, diversity, and equitable practices across campus.

Sustain Mizzou

Sustain Mizzou promotes sustainability through education, cooperation and local action. Among its activities is the Mizzou Tigers Stream Team, a student-led initiative that supports groups looking to clean up Columbia area streams. Sustain Mizzou also offers instruction in beekeeping and composting and hosts garden workdays. Students who are interested in sustainability and looking for a place to start are welcome.

Student government

The Graduate Professional Council (GPC) is the official student government for all graduate, professional, and post-baccalaureate students at the University of Missouri.

The Legion of Black Collegians (LBC), the only Black student government in the country, is the leading voice on campus working to eradicate ignorance and promote positive change through education, motivation and advocacy.

The Missouri Students Association (MSA) is the recognized undergraduate student government at the University of Missouri.

Tiger Pantry

Tiger Pantry strives to assist, educate and empower those facing food insecurity within the University of Missouri community. We advocate to change the perception of hunger on campus and to offer resources to students, faculty, and staff so that they may focus on the experiences uniquely available at Mizzou.

Truman’s Closet

Truman’s Closet offers Mizzou and MU Health Care students, staff and faculty a way to borrow professional and business attire appropriate for career fairs, interviews and the workplace. Clothing can affect one’s confidence and how they are perceived by others. There are times, such as interviews, where the first impression is everything.
