How someone can come back from this betrayal is beyond me – Eun-pyo, this time around, has no option but to see Chun-hui getting escorted by her husband for selling drugs. I am still bewildered that Eun-pyo would leave her own kids at home to help a felon escape, in turn, hurting and betraying her husband. It’s wild, it’s dramatic and it’s weird as heck.

Anyway, as Chun-hui bids goodbye to her sobbing children, Jae-ung gives Chun-hui the nastiest look imaginable. Chun-hui leaves her kids with Eun-pyo and goes off with the police to be questioned. I must say that the kids do a phenomenal job with their acting. It almost feels like they actually saw their mother being taken away. Either way, Jae-ung asks Chun-hui whether there was anything wrong with the dose that she registered to Jin-ha. She vehemently denies it and mentions that she saw Jin-ha waking up and that the effects of the drugs should’ve worn off after that.

After this, she mentions something interesting – there is something wrong with Louis. That night, she saw Louis talking to someone in the living room while she went on to check on Henry’s study materials. But, when he was questioned, he said that he was putting Henry to sleep. He even asked her whether she had given Jin-ha any drugs. Interested, Jae-ung asks her when this happened and she mentions that it was a month after her death. She further mentions that it’s strange that he never mentioned this to anyone.

Jae-ung asks her about her manslaughter charge and she tells him that Ju-seok was the one who did that but the detective doesn’t want to believe her. Meanwhile, Man-su is annoyed at Yun-ju for reporting Chun-hui and a fight breaks out between them. Frustrated, she throws him out saying that she can’t live with someone who cares about his ex-girlfriend more than his wife and kid. On the other hand, a heartbroken Eun-pyo must now go into damage control mode as Jae-ung refuses to talk to her.

She starts to apologise to him but he asks her whether she knows why she is apologising. Her actions could’ve landed her in jail and normally, he’d have to arrest her. When he mentions that Chun-hui was drugging Jin-ha and that it might be the reason for her death, a confused Eun-pyo refuses to believe him. He asks her what we’ve all been thinking and leaves it at that – what does Chun-hui mean to her?

As Ju-seok comes over to take his kids, Jae-ung threatens him saying that he’s not in the clear until the investigation is over. As Eun-pyo debates what to do, Yu-bin and Yeong-bin hear their father’s screams and go off home with him. In the police station, Jae-ung questions Louis and asks him why he lied about when he slept the night of Jin-ha’s death. Plus, why did he meet with Chun-hui? Why didn’t he tell them anything about Jin-ha’s drug usage? Louis uses the usual parent line – he didn’t want Henry to know that about his mother. Jae-ung doesn’t look very convinced with the flimsy excuse.

Eun-pyo, meanwhile, gets walked all over by her ex-professor who is totally taking advantage of her but apparently, she’s too much of a doormat to understand that. Later, she goes to meet Chun-hui in prison and asks her whether she drugged Jin-ha the day she died. Thank god, though, Chun-hui doesn’t lie and tells her the truth this time around, proving that she’s changed somewhat. A furious Eun-pyo asks her whether she’s been deceiving her this entire time, even after seeing what she’s been going through. Chun-hui, however, has nothing to offer other than an apology.

She promises that the drug didn’t kill Jin-ha and that she even talked to her after she woke up. She mentions her fears about Louis to Eun-pyo and tells her how he didn’t turn her in even though he knew everything. Eun-pyo, having heard enough, leaves and calls Louis, who promptly disconnects her call.

Searching for Secretary Kim in a hotel, she comes across Rhea and is stunned to see her. She asks her whether she knows Jin-ha, obviously, she says no, and then sees the nametag on her suitcase – Rhea Benuel. She wonders how she is related to Louis and then blows her professor off to investigate the matter further, so thank god for that.

Meanwhile, Man-su meets up with Ju-seok and asks him to do good for Chun-hui and testify for her so that she gets a shorter sentence. Ju-seok refuses obviously and taunts him for being Chun-hui’s boyfriend. Man-su punches the shit out of him for being a coward and for not acknowledging all that she has done for him and the family. On the other hand, Eun-pyo finds Louis’s autobiography and realises how Rhea and Louis are related.

Before she can come to terms with this weird revelation, Louis calls her and asks her to meet at his home. They have the weirdest conversation where Eun-pyo seems to have joined all of these twisted dots that we already knew but really didn’t need to know. Either way, she asks him whether he pushed Jin-ha and Louis just stares at her as if his soul was laid bare by Eun-pyo. He starts crying and begging her to help him, talking about how they used to love each other. Thankfully, she doesn’t give in this time.

Eun-pyo is in the mood to get into some more trouble and hurt her mental health even more so she goes to talk to Chun-hui in order to know everything. She tells Eun-pyo that that night, Jin-ha had cried a lot and shared memories from her past – her past with Eun-pyo and her mother. Apparently, Eun-pyo’s mother should’ve thought of Jin-ha as her own daughter. Jin-ha was really riddled with mental health issues and needed serious psychological care instead of Chun-hui’s drugs. Eun-pyo goes to her mother after hearing the entire story and cries on her lap.

Meanwhile, Henry wakes up from sleep in the hospital and asks Louis whether “it” happened around that time? Turns out that the kid saw everything so the PTSD is going to be strong with this one. Louis, understanding the gravity of the situation, cries holding him. He later calls Eun-pyo and talks to her while Jae-ung realises that a laptop is missing from the crime scene. Louis essentially tells Eun-pyo that Jin-ha had got to know of Rhea and he practically let her fall over the edge of the window. He eventually turns himself in.

After some time has passed, Eun-pyo and Yun-ju travel to pay respect to Chun-hui’s family – her father has died. Everyone is there, including Chun-hui, who gets permission to pay respect to her father. Man-su apologises to Yun-ju and it seems like Jae-ung has forgiven Eun-pyo as well. 1 year later, Eun-pyo is teaching kids with much love and care while Yun-ju and Man-su have made up and seem happy together.

Eun-pyo is still in touch with Yeong-mi, who sends her jam and has a flourishing jam-making business. Eun-pyo and Yun-ju are in touch with the gossiping moms and there, she befriends a newbie and helps her get accustomed to the area. Eun-pyo mentions how a friend of hers helped her get accustomed at first as well, which made me remember of how Chun-hui let her daughter accuse Dong-seok of being a sexual predator, but sure – besties.

Anyway, going back to work, Eun-pyo is startled to see Chun-hui waiting for her. The old friends hug and giggle like schoolgirls after meeting for so long. Green Mothers Club finale ends with the two friends talking and walking down a park, having been reunited after so long.

Green Mothers Club Episode 16 Review (And Rant)

What an absolutely disappointing finale this has turned out to be! It’s almost hilarious that this took a Riverdale turn where people are just murdering each other or sticking each other with needles and selling drugs. What a disaster. For most of the episode, the series decided that Eun-pyo can just abandon her kids and play detective. She has no responsibilities towards her family and it almost seemed like she was harbouring romantic feelings for Chun-hui.

It’s absolutely shocking just watching her put her own family on fire to keep Chun-hui warm. Her character arc really just went down the drain after a point and it was difficult to sympathise with her once she became a PI who would do anything for the truth.

Also, why is she so concerned for Jin-ha? I don’t know whether this is an unpopular opinion or not but Jin-ha was a horrible friend. Whether it be for her mental health issues or whatever, it doesn’t negate the fact that she was quite vindictive, delusional and very bitter about things that are not, and were not, in Eun-pyo’s hands. It’s so weird that Eun-pyo feels so much love and sympathy for these people who almost burnt her life down, but doesn’t have the basic respect for her husband.

I am further disappointed that they literally showed nothing about how Eun-pyo and Jae-ung just became chummy all of a sudden? Like, the detective just forgave her criminal-harbouring wife? At most, there should’ve been some form of friction, some discussion, something? But nope, Jae-ung just forgives anyone who walks all over him and gives away important information to a fugitive. Moreover, did Ju-seok not get any justice served? Like, he just… lived happily with the kids while Chun-hui shouldered jail time, again?

Green Mothers Club Episode 16 Recap: Eun-pyo and Chun-hui Find Each Other At Last | Leisurebyte (7)

Also, how is Chun-hui allowed visitors at all hours of the day? What kind of prison is this that lets its residents just chat with outsiders at all hours of the day?

Now, let’s talk about the Louis plotline. Listen, it was apparent that something was going on. But what in fresh hell is this nonsense about being with your adoptive sister? Why was Rhea introduced? It was so unnecessary to watch these scenes in these episodes going on and on for no apparent reason. And no, I refuse to believe this unnecessary and stupid love triangle. It’s just such a convoluted way to introduce conflict in the show where conflict wasn’t even necessary.

In the end, we saw too little of the kids and the moms in the scenarios. The series gave us some great episodes when it focused on the kids, their struggles and a hint of the parents’ problems. However, by the end of it, it almost felt like the entire series was made to show us Eun-pyo finally finding a great friend. A big chunk of Green Mothers Club episode 16’s ending is the two women looking longingly into each other’s eyes and giggling. Did Chun-hui get her kids? Is she with Ju-seok? Nothing is necessary unless the women are together.

Green Mothers Club Episode 16 Recap: Eun-pyo and Chun-hui Find Each Other At Last | Leisurebyte (8)

You know, I would’ve even shipped these two. But Chun-hui literally didn’t correct her daughter’s lie about accusing Dong-seok, a child, of being a sexual predator. Eun-pyo’s child. And, we’re just supposed to… let bygones be bygones? That’s just insulting to the audience.

In the end, the dramatic and over-the-top Green Mothers Club turned out to be a weird thriller that leaves a bad taste in your mouth. Although the last episode was quite entertaining, albeit infuriating and confusing, it just goes off the deep end in the finale.
